Archaeology & Heritage

My primary research topic is gender in the Roman period and the modern reception of this. I am also interested in sexuality and gender in Britain throughout time.

Unfortunately, I have had to take an extended break from academia. This is because the academy is not accommodating of disabled individuals. The next step in my career would be to do a PhD but to do it safely, with respect to my health conditions, I would need to do it part-time but with full-time funding. I’m only well enough to work or study part-time.

If you are interested in funding my research in an accessible way, drop me an email on millerjpower@gmail.com

I’d love to hear from you!

Current projects

Historic Margins Podcast (working title)

I am currently developing a podcast where different experts came and talk about areas of history and archaeology that have been marginalised by the academy and society. Proposed episodes include queer Tamil history, menstruation throughout time, and Medieval disability.

UnArchaeology

I am a founding organiser for the UnArchaeology movement. You can find out more about UnArchaeology at unarchaeology.org
